01

Configure the three channels

The Dictational Tone editor has separate choices for Messaging, Work apps, and Email. Each channel offers Formal, Casual, and Informal. Choose a channel first so that changing email tone does not accidentally mean changing your messaging preference.

  1. Open Intelligence in Settings and choose Edit beside Dictational Tone.
  2. Select Messaging, Work apps, or Email.
  3. Choose Formal, Casual, or Informal and confirm.
  4. Repeat for another channel if needed; Back returns within the editor and Cancel abandons the pending change.
02

The initial choices

The initial configuration is Informal for messaging and Formal for work and email. Your saved choices can differ. The destination app and field determine the relevant context where supported; check the output when trying an unfamiliar app.

03

Tone preserves the message

A tone preference changes how the message reads, not what you promised or the facts you supplied. Formal should not add a deadline you did not say. For precise wording, review the result before sending.

04

Assistant has its own tone

Conversational Tone controls Assistant responses independently. Changing Dictational Tone does not necessarily change how Assistant speaks to you. Eligible context and processor settings are also separate controls.
